This coming Wednesday, March 10, 2010, Anthology Film Archives will host a screening of Brazilian short films curated by Maria Baptista, at 8pm. This one-night showing of animation, documentaries and fiction short films is an homage to the female universe, and brings a total of nine films made by directors of both genders.

[ February 17, 2010; 6:00 PM; ] Priscila De Carvalho’s installations are dynamic architectural landscapes composed of paintings, drawings, collage, foam and rubber that convey the complexity, chaos and paradoxes of contemporary urban life in cities, sprawling, decaying and affected by uncontrolled massive urbanization.

The performances are scheduled for 10PM, 11:30PM and 1AM, and each week, Cidinho’s show will feature a changing roster of top local Brazilian vocalists and performers, such as the great Valtinho Anastacio (on Feb 7).

[ June 26, 2009; 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. ] Since 1991 the band Skank from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, hit the Brazilian music scene with an infectious mix of reggae, ska, pop and ballads. As their influences, the band likes to refer to the English and American pop music from the sixties and seventies, like the Beatles, The Police, Bob Dylan and others.
